Cecile E. Clarenbach, 95, of Brecksville, died March 9, 2024. She leaves behind a loving family and many friends in the community.
Cil was born on April 3, 1928, in Franklin, NH to the late Rosario and Aurore (Vigneault) Robichaud. She was predeceased by her siblings Rita (Adam) Novak, Roger, Robert (Helen), Al (Carol), Florence (John) Pastuszak, and Margaret Lorraine (Wayne) Cilley.
Cecile graduated from Franklin High School in 1946 and worked as a bookkeeper in various local companies until she met her future husband, Edward. They married in Franklin during a snowstorm December 27, 1952. After marrying, Cecile and Edward moved multiple times, finally settling with their two daughters, in Brecksville in 1967.
Throughout her life, Cil’s priority was her family, and she was a consummate hostess for gatherings of family and friends. She entertained with joy, always including delicious food and personal touches. While in Brecksville, Cecile was involved in a wide variety of social and service activities. She had many friends with whom she shared lunches, stitchery, birthday parties, and bridge. Her organizational and leadership skills shined as she served in a number of roles. Cil was a member of the Brecksville Women’s Club and served in several positions including president. She also was an officer with the Greater Cleveland Federation of Women’s Clubs. An active member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Brecksville, Cil served on the vestry and was the president of the Episcopal Church Women and the Altar Guild.
She was predeceased in 2013 by her beloved husband of 60 years, Edward. She is survived by her loving daughters Beth Petti (Phil) of Naperville, IL, and Jane Clarenbach of Silver Spring, MD. She was the devoted grammy to three grandsons, Matthew (Krystle) Petti of Denver, CO; Kenneth (Chonel) Petti of Boston; and Cameron Petti of Chicago and a loving GiGi to Elliot, Adelaide and Sebastian Petti (Boston) and Bryleigh Alexander (Denver). She leaves her dear sister Joan (Harry) Shanelaris of Franklin, NH, her sister-in-law Helen, and many much-loved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and luncheon reception will be held April 6, 2024, beginning at 11 a.m., St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 9549 Highland Drive, Brecksville. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Matthew’s may be made in memory of Cecile, honoring her 57-year commitment to her church.
A memorial service will be held on April 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 390 Main Street, North Andover, Massachusetts.
