Ina Konstanze (Groth) Teuffel

Ina Konstanze Teuffel, nee Groth, left us peacefully on November 1, 2019. She was 92 years old. Ina was born in 1927 in Leipzig, Germany to Elsa (nee Fiebiger) and Dr. Klaus Groth. She and her beloved husband, Hellmut (deceased), were married for 61 years. In 1958 the couple left post WWII Germany with their two young daughters and immigrated to Cleveland in search of work and opportunity. Ina’s older sister and brother-in-law, Hella and Stefan Deubel (both deceased), sponsored the family’s move to the United States.

Always ready with a Plan B, Ina walked tall throughout her life taking challenges head-on such as surviving war, tackling a new language, acclimating to a different culture, learning to drive in her 30s and golf in her 50s, and working to help put her girls through college. She was a woman of integrity with a well-honed sense of right and wrong as well as duty. From earliest childhood, Ina loved nature and animals. She enjoyed sharing stories and experiences with her fellow veterans and water exercise classmates in Brecksville where she made her home for many years. The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful team at Mount Alverna Assisted Living where Ina resided since March of this year. Also, words cannot describe the blessings received at Holy Family Hospice in her final days.

Ina is survived by her devoted daughters, Franziska (James) Dacek and Almut (Gary) Zvosec and her cherished granddaughter, Emily Zvosec. She is also survived by nephews Bernie (Patty) and George (Ulla) Deubel and their children.
