Mary Ann Cross

Mary Ann Cross, age 72, of Brecksville, passed away on November 19, 2018.  She was the beloved wife of Richard R. Cross for 52 years; devoted mother of Ryan R. Cross of Bratenahl and Jennifer L. Hawkins (Scott) of Sagamore Hills.  Beloved “Grammy” of Andrew and Taylor Hawkins; loving sister of Martha Lee Ballish (Robert) of Huntsburg and sister-in-law of Ford A. Cross (Pat) of Morehead City, NC and Kathi Mann of Cortland.  Mary Ann was born July 28, 1946, in Warren, Ohio, daughter of the late Andrew and Virginia (Hamilton) Velican.  Her life was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and a large circle of wonderful family and friends.  For the past ten years, Mary Ann enjoyed spending the winters in the sunny warmth of Bonita Springs, FL.  The love and support of her family and friends sustained and motivated her during her 23-year battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL).  Her family expresses their sincere appreciation to the talented caregivers at University Hospitals and Cleveland Clinic, especially Bernard Silver, MD, for the excellent medical care provided to Mary Ann.  A memorial service will be held in the spring.  Interment in Lake View Cemetery, Cleveland, OH.  Contributions in Mary Ann’s memory can be directed to University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, P.O.
